Falmouth Urine Diversion Project

Illustration by The Green Center depicting urine nutrients polluting groundwater, ponds and estuaries. Using UD toilet systems can eliminate this pollution source.

MASSTC is working with the Town of Falmouth to develop a urine diversion project. This project will evaluate the feasibility of using urine diversion (or UD) in watershed management planning. Urine contributes the majority of nutrients in residential wastewater that causes pollution in lakes, ponds, bays and estuaries. By using urine diversion systems, nutrient pollution can be controlled at the source.

This project is actively in development and we are looking for potential project participants who are willing to install UD systems in their homes. If you are interested, send an email to bryan.horsley@capecod.gov and request to be added to the potential participant list.

If you’ve already signed up to be a participant, there’s no need to sign up again!

For updates on the current project status view these project update documents:

  1. August project update
  2. October project update
If you have already signed up as a potential participant the next step is to conduct a preliminary assessment of your site to see if it is compatible with installation and monitoring of a UD system. Please click here to open the survey document and email your answers to bryan.horsley@capecod.gov.
